Reproductive Health
Drawing sessions with women addressed issues in areas of anatomy and growth, menstruation, pregnancy, family planning, and abortion. The drawings not only reveal the visual language of the rural women but also how they view themselves in their community and the social and health status of the community. The lack of and access to knowledge about reproductive health has bred rampant misconceptions that endanger the physical health and social well-being of the community, especially among young men and women. These rural drawings contain many of the misconceptions and fallbacks to the culture of silence that surrounds sexual and reproductive health in India.
